The ongoing work of First United is made possible by the donations of our members and supporters. There are many ways you can help. Financial donations support the direct costs of delivering our services and programs. You can also volunteer your time and talent to assist other volunteers to support and expand what we offer.
First United is a congregation of The United Church of Canada and is a registered charity operating under the rules of the Canada Revenue Agency.
Financial donations can be made during our regular worship services, by visiting the Church Office during regular hours or online using Canada Helps. First United issues tax receipts in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency rules. Receipts are generally issued early in the year for donations received in the previous year. For online donations, Canada Helps will issue the tax receipt directly.
First United has several funds that support our work:
The General Fund is used for the direct costs of operating our services and programs.
The Local Outreach Fund is used to support members and adherents of the congregation and the local community in times of specific need as well as to supplement our support of the Lakeshore Community Outreach Centre Inc. (The Compass)
The Memorials & Special Gifts Fund is used to make improvements to the facilities of First United. This fund is supported by donations made in memory of members and supporters who have passed away and from bequests made specifically from the estate of the donor.
